Overview
It's difficult to describe a day to day task as the Commercial role at L'Oreal is reactive, and you need to be able to prioritise depending on retailers needs. That being said, on a weekly basis you will: 1) review the previous week's retail, offering key insights. 2) Drive Sell-In opportunities, to hit your commercial targets. 3) Project Manage - Work collaboratively with marketing teams to bring launches to life in our retailers.
Skills
L'Oreal has fostered an environment where you are able to prioritise self-development, and they very much give you the tools to do so. I've been able to develop my finance skills this year, which involved working closely with a P&L, been able to develop my problem solving skills - through working with a complex and massive supply chain network, and my communication skills - through being actively encouraged to shadow other functions within L'Oreal.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility within my internship, and this allowed me to fully flesh out and showcase my skills to both my team, but also the wider business. I had hands on experience being both an Account Manager, and an Activation Manager which provided a well rounded and highly valuable experience.
Support & Guidance
I'd have weekly check-ins with my direct manager who would support me in prioritising my work. I would also have weekly 1-2-1s with my other managers who would check-in on the progress of my tasks, and support where needed.
Culture
This is very dependent on your division at L'Oreal, however what is consistent is that your development is put first at every opportunity. You are actively encouraged to make the most of this year, and HR will support in ensuring that your work is meaningful and tailor towards what you'd want to learn.
Your Impressions
I highly enjoyed my placement at L'Oreal, it provided me with the foundations and skills that will prove invaluable in my future career.
Yes
Don't tailor your answers to what you think they want to hear. L'Oreal value each and everyone's personality, and the team aren't trying to find a specific type of person to fit in the company. Every task involves working with someone else, so try to demonstrate your ability to work in a team at every opportunity!
