Overview
The L'Oréal Spring Insight Week involved learning about the various functions and career opportunities within the L'Oréal group (not just L'Oréal Paris!) through a series of presentations. The week took place online over the course of four days. There were employability workshops on career progression, personal branding, CVs, interviews, and assessment centres. There were deep dives into marketing, finance, commercial, advocacy & social, and supply chain, alongside sessions on education, sustainability, data & insights, digital, tech & innovation, and DE&I. The week ended with a Q&A with current graduates and interns; all speakers encouraged questions during their talks.
Skills
Yes. Around half the week was dedicated to developing employability skills, such as CV writing. This has allowed me to gain a clearer understanding of what employers are looking for in candidates and how to show these skills. Most importantly, the employability sessions have developed my confidence — I now feel more optimistic about applying for roles in the future.
Business Insight
It was fascinating to learn about the various roles available within L'Oréal. From this scheme, I got a detailed insight into the various functions within the company and how they interrelated. This has really helped me to narrow down which career paths I am interested in pursuing.
Culture
The atmosphere was very friendly. There was a palpable sense that everyone in the company was friends, despite its size! All the presenters were warm, and many emphasised how they found the company culture welcoming.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the insight week greatly. The presentations were all interesting and many were interactive. Participants have the option to choose which sessions to attend — this means that if there's a topic that does not interest you, you can skip it. Equally, you can attend all the sessions.
Yes
Apply as soon as possible. Ensure that your CV clearly summarises your skills and achievements — this appears to have been the most important part of the application process for this programme.
