Overview
I am responsible for the adapts and execution for our different markets of our newest campaign assets. I am also involved in our newest innovation launch where I have tested all the assets such as KVs, TVC and OOH and then worked with an agency to make small edits to these if not meeting the required grading.
Skills
My global awareness has developed significantly through real life exposure. Working on a brand like Cif, which operates across one of the most diverse sets of markets within Unilever鈥檚 Homecare division, has shown me the complexity of building a cohesive brand that remains locally relevant. Also have also improved my written and verbal communication, I've had to adjust my communication style depending on who I was talking to trying to find a balance between professionalism and clarity.
Responsibilities
My hope for the year was that I would gain real-world marketing experience and be able to apply everything i鈥檝e learnt to real life situations however I wasn鈥檛 sure how much real responsibility I would be given and thought I would only support but maybe not lead anything major. What really surprised me was how quickly I was thrown into real, meaningful work. Within my first month, I was already taking ownership of tasks, attending high-level meetings, and working directly with brand managers and external agencies. I also hadn鈥檛 anticipated just how collaborative and fast-paced things would be, especially across different regions and time zones.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of mentorship at the beginning which made the transition feel a lot easier. After the first couple weeks I did have to become more independent but this was good as it pushed me outside of my comfort zone. I always felt as though I had people to go to.
Culture
The general atmosphere was super supportive and encouraging. The company culture was one where I felt I could speak openly even as a placement student.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed my placement and time on the cif team, it has been a huge learning curve but I have grown so much as a professional and gained a lot of skills.
