Overview
The insight involved networking sessions, speaker panels, desk shadowing, workshops and simulations. A lot of the activities provided guidance on firstly what Sales & Trading is, and secondly what is worth thinking about when considering a career in S&T at Morgan Stanley. The two main highlights included the desk shadowing and meeting an overwhelming amount of really bright peers.
Skills
I developed further insight into the kinds of roles within Sales & Trading. Whether Sales, Trading, Structuring, Quant, Operations or Fixed Income and Equities.
Business Insight
The programme provided a lot of transparency and opportunity for asking a lot of questions. Importantly, it provided a hands-on and engaging outline of the business and intricacies that are harder to come by online.
Culture
It felt a lot more collaborative and close-knit than I had initially imagined. Hierarchies felt quite flat as well, while there seemed to be a lot of support for career growth at any career stage.
Your Impressions
The job shadowing was among the coolest experience of my life. Truly exceeded expectations. Really enjoyed the comraderie of being in the same situation as other very inspiring peers.
Yes
Find out what makes you tick and whether Morgan Stanley can offer a role that involves that passion. Instead of treating it as you trying to be the perfect candidate, treat it as an opportunity to figure out whether Morgan Stanley makes sense for you.
