Overview
Surveyor in the infrastructure and utilities division. Managing the land liaison for large utility firms, allowing them to access the land required to carry out their works. Day to day work differs, some days are spent in the office and some days are spent out on site. Placement students are given significant responsibility and take the lead on projects, as well as working within a team on larger projects.

Yes, placement students are given responsibility to lead projects independently, but can always ask for help and advice where needed.
Support & Guidance
Lots of support and guidance from different members of the team with more experience at all levels (from line managers to graduates) - everyone is always happy to help and provide advice, but equally want to give you responsibility.
Culture
Great company culture with lots of opportunities to get involved with things outside of work. I have found everyone to be very welcoming and friendly.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year, and would definitely recommend Fisher German to anyone who wants to pursue a career in Surveying/ Real Estate
Yes
Even if you are from a non-cognate degree background (not RICS accredited) you should definitely consider a career in Surveying/ Real Estate. I found that the application process was really accessible compared to other placements, and relies just on an in person interview after submitting your cover letter / CV. They really just want to get to know you as a person, to see if you would be a good fit.
