    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Over the course of the day, we were given a well-rounded introduction to the firm, its culture, and the different service lines it offers - including audit, tax, advisory, and consulting. It consisted of panels, group problem-solving projects, and networking practice. One of the highlights was an interactive session with some of the junior members of the team who we asked about their experience so far.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, the insight helped me both develop existing skills and pick up some new ones. One of the biggest areas of development for me was communication, especially through the group budget pitch exercise. On top of practicing personal elevator pitches, we had to work in teams to analyse information and present our proposals back to the wider group, which really built my confidence speaking in a professional setting.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • It was certainly eye-opening to learn about the structure of the business and the range of roles available at Forvis Mazars. Before the insight, I had a general idea of what audit or tax involved, but the programme gave a much deeper and more practical understanding of how each individual team operates and how they fit into the bigger picture of supporting clients on a case-by-case basis.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture at Forvis Mazars came across as really friendly, supportive, and down-to-earth. From the moment I stepped foot into the office, it came across as a very inviting space, especially owing to the open plan and communal areas in the office. One thing in particular that stood out to me was how proud the employees seemed to work there together.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the insight, even if it only took up the span of a singular day; It was a genuinely engaging and worthwhile experience from start to finish. The mix of activities kept things interesting throughout the programme, and I felt that there was a good balance between learning about the firm, developing practical skills, and meeting new people. Interacting with like people of my own age was also very beneficial.

  • I would advise them to make the most of networking opportunities. Everyone we met, from trainees to employees, was happy to chat and answer questions. Don鈥檛 be afraid to reach out and connect on LinkedIn, and to then stay in touch. Also, Forvis Mazars are not expecting you to know everything about the professional services industry as the insight is designed to teach you.
