    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Day-to-day, I would sit with my principal who would set me tasks and research to complete. Throughout the scheme, I also had projects and tasks to complete to showcase my legal and commercial knowledge, which formulates part of the training contract interview. I attended talks and coffee chats to enhance my knowledge of Linklaters and engage with the wonderful people who work here. Analysing contracts and conducting research were some of the tasks my principal set me.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Throughout the scheme, my time management and organisational skills have been strengthened when balancing multiple commitments to meet high expectations. I have learnt the importance of adaptability and problem-solving in the legal world as you never know what you may encounter. Most importantly, I have developed my team working skills- this is one of the most vital skills a solicitor needs to thrive at Linklaters. I have enjoyed working in different teams and collaborating with a range of people.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • The firm provided me with lots of information about what they do, their strategy and what they stand for. It was reassuring to hear that a lot of their values (like striving for excellence, respect etc.) aligned with the values I want to find in a firm. We had in-depth talks on the potential roles available and what the process of becoming a trainee entails; this was helpful because it clearly outlined what I can expect over the next few years if I am lucky enough to get a job here.
