    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • This role allows you to get involved with several different projects, involving different functions and groups within Global Regulatory Operations. Interactions remain internal for the most part, however it allows for contact both relatively low, and high in the organisational hierarchy. Although being a placement role, responsibilities exceed expectations, not only are you a part of existing, or new projects - you are also expected to lead some of your own projects, essential to the departments operations.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • With this being a placement role, that is often your first role within the industry, it allows for a platform to showcase the skills you have come out of your first 2 years of university with. Showcasing these skills in this roles setting, also allows for constant development and improvement of these skills. Managers look for versatility, and agility as the role involves a wide variety of projects and tasks, therefore I have been able to develop skills to allow me to be agile, such as change management, project leading/management & ability to adapt to different groups.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received weekly guidance from my manager, in the form of an hour session on Mondays & Thursdays. This allowed me to have more confidence in my own work, as well as clarify any doubts I had about projects or tasks I was asked to perform.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture was one which fostered growth, and looked to all levels of the organisational hierarchy for feedback on what is going well and what could do with improvement. Working here, even as a placement student, you feel that your feedback is always valued, and acted upon. The atmosphere is great, colleagues often become friends outside of work also, which greatly improves the atmosphere in the workplace.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer
  • Be yourself. Although Pfizer do hire the best in the industry, and often academically strong students from high rated universities, they look for who you are as a person. Not only at an early careers level, but right at the very top, people skills are greatly valued. Pfizer looks to hire people who will work great within teams, so I would advise building on your group working skills, and identifying how you can stand out within a team, whilst remaining level headed.
