Overview
Retail lease consultancy, dealing with lease renewals, rent reviews and regears on behalf of landlords and tenants
Skills
I was given great opportunities to develop my valuation, negotiation and analytical skills. Alongside numerous internal and external events to network with like-minded individuals in the industry.
Responsibilities
I was given a very high level of responsibility from day one which seemed daunting at the time but being thrown in at the deep end was definitely the best way of learning. I would always be able reach out to my manager and colleagues if I needed advice.
Support & Guidance
I received support and guidance from my manager, the wider retail team, graduate colleagues and the HR team.
Culture
Very friendly, I have felt comfortable speaking to colleagues at all levels in the hierarchy and been lucky enough to develop close relationships with those much higher up.
Your Impressions
I have loved my placement year, the idea of heading back to uni is bitter sweet. The year has flown by but I am confident that I will remain in contact with the connections I have made this year.
Yes
Be yourself at the assessment centre and interviews. The most important thing to my manager was that we would be able to work closely together for a year. People can always see through a front so just be confident in what you know and don't be be afraid to admit you are unsure on some things (non-cog students are not always going to have a depth of industry knowledge).
